  Washington, DC 20500

  Dear President Obama,

Korean War POW/MIA Peace Treaty Initiative

In 1953 the Korean War Armistice was signed effectively ending hostilities on the Korean

peninsula. However, the one remaining issue preventing an official peace treaty was not

resolved. That issue was a full repatriation of POWs. Because this issue was not resolved.

American POWs were left behind in North Korea.

In 1996, Pentagon analyst, Insung Lee published a background paper, "Accountability of

Missing Americans From the Korean War: Live Sighting Reports," which stated in part,

"There are too many live sighting reports...to dismiss there are no American POWs in North

  Korea.

It is imperative that prior to any peace agreement with North Korea that the POW/MIA

issue be put back on the table to negotiate a resolution. We must insure that no Americans

are still being held against their will and that the Department of Defense be allowed to

disinter the remains of Americans on an ongoing basis.

I urge you to enact the Korean War POW/MIA Peace Treaty Initiative to ensure our

  POW/MIAs are accounted for.

  Sincerely,

Enclosure: Korean War POW/MIA Peace Treaty Initiative

Please enclose a copy of the Peace Treaty Initiative:
